The DCCCD Foundation, in partnership with the Greater Texas Foundation, is pleased to announce a new scholarship opportunity for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) students intending to pursue careers in the teaching profession. Twenty-five awards will be made for fall 2009.
Eligible DCCCD students may apply for a $1,000 scholarship to be awarded in two installments of $500. Recipients must have completed 12 hours and have a 3.0 GPA. A districtwide selection committee comprised of a mathematics or science faculty member plus a dean of mathematics or science will select the recipients.
In order to apply for this scholarship, students should obtain one letter of recommendation from a faculty member and complete a DCCCD application. Download the DCCCD scholarship application (PDF). All materials must be received by the DCCCD Foundation no later than Friday, May 8, 2009, to be considered.

Application Process
Applicants must submit the following to the DCCCD Foundation:
All requested information should be submitted to the DCCCD Development/Foundation Office. The Development/Foundation Office will forward the completed applications to the STEM selection committee. The STEM selection committee will review applications and identify recipients. Selected applications will be forwarded to the District Foundation Office for processing.
Selection Process
A selection committee comprised of a STEM faculty member and a dean of math and science will evaluate the applicants based on Greater Texas Foundation’s applicant requirements. The decision of the selection committee is final. The Development/Foundation Office will notify recipients of educational scholarships (via telephone call and/or letter.)
Recipient Requirements
Recipients must have previously completed 12 credit hours and maintain a 3.0 GPA. Recipients must be studying mathematics, science, engineering, technology or teaching with an emphasis in one of these fields. Failure to meet these requirements could result in a reduction or loss of scholarship benefits. Students must be enrolled in at least six hours to continue their scholarship award.
