How To Get Started
To get started in the eCommerce program, check out the degree or certificate you’d like to pursue and complete the admissions process at one of the five colleges that offer the program (Brookhaven College, Eastfield College, Mountain View College, North Lake College or Richland College).
When you meet with an academic advisor, mention your interest in the eCommerce program so he or she can help you determine which courses you should take.
If you are planning to earn an associate degree or certificate, please note that you must complete 25 percent of your degree requirements at the college awarding the degree.
Courses Offered (Curriculum)
The eCommerce program will introduce you to the business processes enabled by Internet technologies. We provide an interdisciplinary curriculum that includes marketing, management, communications and Web site design and development. As an eCommerce student, you’ll design eCommerce models and analyze current and future trends by performing audience analyses, stating marketing objectives, analyzing design strategies for secure data transfer, designing eCommerce solutions to use real-time processing capabilities intended to interact with a database, and practicing successful workplace skills.
Our catalog provides detailed information about the eCommerce courses we offer and the requirements for the eCommerce associate degree and certificates:
- The Electronic Commerce – Associate in Applied Sciences Degree includes marketing, management, communications and Web site design and development.
- The Entrepreneur Certificate is for those who would like to develop and market Web business ideas for new products/services or launch new ways to sell existing products/services online.
- The Business Specialist Certificate is designed to provide education and training for individuals who would like to use the Web to market and promote their products on the Internet, increasing knowledge and skills in organizational behavior, accounting, marketing and management.
- The Technology Specialist Certificate explores the technical aspects of using the Web to promote and market products, evaluating current technological advancements, system integration techniques and Web site design and development.

Transferring From DCCCD
eCommerce courses are designed for entry into the workforce. However, if you are interested in earning a degree at a four-year institution, please visit the Transfer Services Web site for guidance on the transfer process.
Most of the classes in this degree transfer to the University of Texas at Arlington’s Web Design/eCommerce Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.
