“We use a lot of techniques on the job that I learned at Brookhaven, including all the practical aspects such as positioning. Our facility recently changed over to the PACS system, which is filmless and can be sent to any doctor’s computer. I already had some experience with PACS technology during my clinical rotation at Medical Center of Plano. One of the best classes I took was Imaging Physics; it made me understand how things really work.

“The best thing about my Brookhaven education was having our class go all the way through the program together, so that we could build relationships and form study groups. Marie Ritchey earned an associate degree in Radiologic Sciences from Brookhaven College. She works part time as a radiologic technologist at Lake Pointe Medical Center in Rowlett, working with X-rays and also in the emergency room and outpatient areas.

She is a pre-med student at UTD working toward a bachelor’s degree in radiology online through Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, and is interested in earning MRI certification.
