Radiologic Technologist
Children’s Medical Center of Dallas

“I’ve been an employee of Children’s Medical Center for 11 years. The medical field is pretty much my life. I was drawn to radiology because I wanted a rewarding career.

“I would like to thank Christi Carter, program coordinator for the Radiologic Sciences program at Brookhaven, and Valerie Martin and Stephanie Wells for their constant support and unwavering confidence and belief in my success as a student. Their experience, awesome leadership and guidance assisted me through one of the most challenging tasks of my journey.

“Before my acceptance at Brookhaven, I was a member of the United States Air Force and graduated from basic combat training. I then was accepted into the Radiologic Sciences program at Brookhaven.

“Through the many months of classes, full-time employment at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, long nights of studying and a child, along with other responsibilities, I pressed on. Life continued to constantly present difficulties, both fair and unfair, but perseverance and discipline continued to pay off in spite of setbacks, disappointments and sometimes overwhelming challenges that seemed unconquerable.

“I give great thanks to my family and largely attribute these accomplishments of mine to them, because they helped me to achieve my goals with love, enthusiasm and resolve. I wish for those who come behind me the same portion of God’s speed that has carried me through my great walk.”

Gloria Levingston-Harris earned an associate degree in criminal justice from Grambling State University and served as an administration specialist in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. She took prerequisite courses at Cedar Valley College, where she was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, the international community college academic honor society, and was named one of the college’s Top Ten Students. She earned an associate degree in Radiologic Sciences from Brookhaven College and is still an active member of the Air Force Reserve.
