Admission to El Centro College
To get started in the Radiologic Sciences program, complete the admissions process at El Centro College. When you meet with an academic advisor, mention your interest in the Radiologic Sciences program so he or she can help you determine which courses you should take. If you are planning to earn an associate degree, please note that you must complete 25 percent of your degree requirements at the college awarding the degree.
Program Admission Requirements
Applicants are rank-ordered for admission based on grade point average earned for the prerequisite courses. Applicants should contact the El Centro College Assessment Center to sign up for the assessment tests.
Applicants are ranked for acceptance selection via a point award system. In the event that two or more applicants have the same point total, the cumulative score on all four sections of the HESI A2 will be used to break the tie. Point award totals for applicants may range from a minimum of 3 points to a maximum of 19 points on the designated criteria below:
- HESI A2 (with a minimum score of 75 on each of the four required sections)
- Support Courses completed with a minimum grade of “C”
- Support Course Cumulative GPA (2.0 minimum required)
- Previous Patient Care Experience - Maximum 2 points
Requires certificate of completion indicating a formal training program and clinical experience, but not necessarily a licensure or certification in the particular field. Examples include:
- Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)
- Home Health Aide (HHA)
- Medical Assistant (CMA)
- Medication Aide
- Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Patient Care Assistant (PCA)
- EMT or Paramedic
- Phlebotomist
- Psychiatric Technician
- Completion of a least one semester of a nursing or registered nursing program with a grade of at least “C” in all nursing courses.

Application Filing Period
Entering classes begin in the Fall semester (late August) and graduate in mid-July two years later.
The official application filing period is Jan. 1–May 31, with acceptance letters mailed June 15.
Clinical Training Experience
The clinical training experience, or practicum, begins at 16 hours per week in Semester II, expands to 20 hours per week in Semesters IV and V, and to 30 hours per week in Semester VI. Clinical hours may begin as early as 7 a.m. to as late as 4 p.m. and are taught at:
