How to Get Started
To get started in the Multimedia program, complete the admissions process at Richland College. When you meet with an academic advisor, mention your interest in the Multimedia program. He or she can help you determine which courses you should take.
Tuition
Dallas County residents pay $123 per three-hour class — that’s $41 per credit hour, or less than $500 for a full semester load of 12 credit hours. Compare that to what you’d pay elsewhere! See DCCCD tuition rates for tuition according to your place of residency.

Related Programs at DCCCD
Although the Multimedia degree and certificates are available only through Richland College, the other six Dallas County Community Colleges offer related courses and programs that may interest you.
If you are planning to earn an associate degree or certificate in Multimedia Technology, please note that you must complete 25 percent of your degree requirements at the college awarding the degree.
Developing Skills for Success
The digital art, audio and video tools for interactive Multimedia Technology are exciting and fun to use. Creativity and good communication skills are important in creating a media-rich interface for Web, CD and DVD projects. Excellent social skills are critical since most corporate multimedia staff work in teams that can include artists, animators, programmers, and project managers. Familiarity with a variety of computer programs and applications is a plus.
Hands-On Experience at Times That Fit Your Busy Schedule
Because we understand that the majority of our students work part or full time in addition to attending college, many of our classes are available not only in the daytime, but in the evening, on weekends and online. Our Multimedia Learning Center is an open lab facility offering students access to computers and software, along with additional audio and video tools.
The Multimedia program includes plenty of practical hands-on training, an advantage for our students since employers strongly favor hiring employees with real-world experience. Internships, required in the fourth semester of our associate degree or certificate programs, provide an excellent way to transition from the classroom to the workplace.
Our annual Computer Arts Festival brings professionals and prospective employers to campus each spring and offers a dynamic opportunity for students to showcase their Multimedia portfolios.

Our two full-time faculty members at Richland College hold bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and have each taught Multimedia courses for at least a decade.

Transferring From DCCCD
Multimedia courses are designed for entry into the workforce. However, many of our students have transferred courses into similar programs at the University of Texas at Dallas and the Dallas Art Institute.
Students seeking to transfer should check with advisors in the programs at their destination college or university to see what articulation agreements are in place with DCCCD. For example, the University of Texas at Arlington will accept complete transfer hours from our Associate in Applied Arts Multimedia Degree into their interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts degree.
