El Centro College
Marilyn Sullivan, coordinator of the Fashion Marketing program at El Centro College, began teaching fashion marketing at DCCCD after working in fashion buying and retail management. She holds a bachelor’s degree in home economics education (now consumer sciences) and a master’s degree in clothing and textiles from Kansas State University.
She was recognized as Brookhaven College’s 1984-85 Piper Professor, received the NISOD Teaching Excellence Award in 1984 and 1999, and in 2004 was listed in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. In addition to teaching courses in apparel and accessories marketing, fashion advertising, fashion buying, fashion promotion, fashion trends, textiles and visual merchandising, she serves on the executive boards for Fashion Group International, Dallas region, and Dallas Fashion Incubator. Her focus in both of these organizations is student membership and networking opportunities for Fashion Marketing students as they make their transition to the workplace.
She is married to Terry Sullivan, an award-winning local architect and partner in Creation Architecture. They have one daughter, Ashley, who is a fashion entrepreneur in Sacramento, Calif., where she and her husband own Bella Donna Bridal Salon.
