North Lake College

John Hitt received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas and his master’s degree from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. He has completed all studies but the dissertation for a doctorate from the University of North Texas. 

Professional experience includes extensive lobbying for major oil corporations in various states and in Washington, D.C. He has also served as a legislative assistant to the governor of Louisiana, where he held several positions in statewide and local election campaigns. 

He is also a licensed Texas funeral director/embalmer, having worked in his family’s business in East Texas. Mr. Hitt started his own academic career at Tyler Junior College and remains highly supportive of the missions and goals of the community college in our society.
