Program Director and Associate Professor
Debra Cason has served as program director and associate professor for the Division of Emergency Medicine Education at UT Southwestern Medical Center since 1980. She has taught in the program since 1977 and prior to that was a supervisor in Parkland Hospital’s Emergency Department.
She served on the Joint Review Committee for Paramedic Educational Programs (currently the Committee on Accreditation for EMS Professions) from 1987-1997 and was chair from 1993-1995; on the board of the National Association of EMS Educators from 1995-2001 and as president in 2000-2001; and on the board of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) as well as other advisory groups.
She has authored several EMS articles, chapters and books and is currently project director for the development of national EMS education standards.
