Medical Director
EMS Program 

Dr. Roy K. Yamada has served as medical director of Brookhaven College’s EMS program since 2004. Work experience includes serving as a staff physician in the emergency department of Irving Health Care System, Harris Methodist H.E.B. Hospital and Arlington Memorial Hospital, where he continues to practice.

EMS experience includes serving as EMS medical director of the fire departments for the cities of Mansfield, Bedford, Pantego, Richland Hills, North Richland Hills, Keller, Allen, Midlothian, Hurst and Euless, as well as for DFW International Airport. He has served as EMS medical director for Tarrant County College, Brookhaven College and PHI Air Medical of Dallas.

Dr. Yamada holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Pacific Union College in Angwin, Calif.; certification as a medical technologist (ASCP) from White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles; a medical degree and surgical internship from the University of Hawaii in Honolulu; with rotating internship and orthopedic surgery residency completed at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.

He is a member of the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, Tarrant County Medical Association, Texas College of Emergency Physicians, American Çollege of Emergency Physicians and the National Association of EMS Physicians. Certifications include ACLS/AHA provider and instructor, ATLS/ACS provider and APLS/ACEP provider.

Dr. Yamada was named 2001 EMS Medical Director of the Year by the Texas Department of Health.
