Graphic Designer, Marketing and Communications Office,
and Digital Imaging Adjunct Faculty
Eastfield College
“I returned to college as a 37-year-old single mother with no direction other than finding a career that would allow me to support my family. My plan was to complete my basics at Eastfield and transfer to a four-year university. I was on my way to accomplishing this when I discovered Digital Imaging. I took one class just to see what it was like, but I enjoyed it so much, I changed my direction completely. I completed my basics and an associate degree in Digital Imaging Technology within one semester of each other.
“My experience with the faculty at Eastfield has been wonderful. After being out of college for so long, returning was scary. The faculty was so supportive and encouraging; it was easy to get the additional help that I needed to be successful. This allowed me to gain confidence in myself and my abilities and to accomplish things that I never thought that I could.
“My position as graphic designer is the ideal job. I get to use my creativity, once limited to my hobbies, and do it every day as a career. My experience and education now allow me to teach as an adjunct instructor. My position at Eastfield allows me to hire co-op students working on their Digital Imaging degree. Both teaching and mentoring allows me to give students the knowledge and support that they need to be successful in this field.”
