Are you fascinated by medical science? Do you want a career with variety? Would you like to be a part of an exciting and challenging profession? Are you ready for a well-paying, high-demand job in one of the fastest-growing occupations in the nation?

Then a career in diagnostic medical sonography may be for you! It’s a great fit for people who have strong organizational and multitasking skills and who are interested in the medical field.

A diagnostic medical sonographer, or ultrasonographer, performs sonography examinations using high-frequency sound waves, obtaining sonographic data necessary for a physician to diagnose a variety of conditions and diseases. Our successful students are independent thinkers who like to solve puzzles.

El Centro College’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is recognized both locally and nationally for its outstanding faculty and exemplary clinical rotations. (Clinical rotations are work-based learning experiences, where you are able to practice what you've learned in a real-life setting, under the supervision of a professional.)
Our students attend classes two days a week and perform clinical rotations three days a week, allowing them to apply their academics to hands-on clinical practice. The pass rate for our graduates is well above the national average for the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) board exams.
