Felipe T. de la Garza has more than 20 years of teaching experience with 12 years at the higher education level. His formal education includes a seven-year professional engineer degree with a major in structures and a minor in hydraulics. He earned his commission in the Navy’s Civil Engineer Corps, reaching the rank of commander and garnering 15 medals, ribbons and service commendations. He also earned a master’s degree in engineering administration and completed 48 postgraduate hours in environmental management.

Mr. de la Garza’s work experience includes municipal and federal public works with both the Army Corps of Engineers and the Air Force, where he rose to the position of chief engineer and deputy base civil engineer (GS-14 and 15).
