Assistant Project Manager
Aguirre Corp.
“I began at DCCCD two years ago, taking an Introduction to Construction course to get familiar with construction terminology, because I had started a new job at MEDCO Construction. After the first course and my first few months in the construction industry, I was hooked. The classes that followed were classes like Blueprint Reading and Estimating for Commercial Construction. These allowed me to advance into my current capacity as assistant project manager. The classes DCCCD offers in its Construction Management program give the student practical, usable information that one can apply in the workplace.”
Keri L. Hoeppner’s job responsibilities as an assistant project manager include assessing subcontractor scopes to prevent overlapping duties or missed aspects, scheduling contractors, assessing project risk, ensuring compliance with city and state specifications, working with the superintendent to ensure meeting schedule, assessing subcontractor work to ensure a quality product, processing purchase orders and change orders, and inspecting work completed for quality and timeliness. Given creative freedom to create proposals by the business development manager, she helped her company garner $75 million in new construction over the next two years and helped create new business relationships. She created MEDCO’s submissions for Best Construction in 2004 and 2005, where the company won two awards each year, and created the submissions that earned Summit Awards in both 2004 and 2005. She is currently a student in North Lake’s Construction Management program.
