Executive Director of the Central Office
Texas Association for the Education of Young Children, Austin, Texas

“I became interested in the Child Development program because I wanted to increase my knowledge in order to provide a quality preschool experience for young children. The best part of my DCCCD experience was my professor Nancy Beaver. She was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about teaching. DCCCD helped my career because I was able to not only become a director of a child care center but also complete my bachelor’s degree. I would highly recommend that other students attend DCCCD; it was a life-changing experience for me.”

LaShonda Y. Brown earned a Child Development Associate Skills Achievement Award from Eastfield College and holds a bachelor’s degree from Dallas Baptist University. As executive director of the Texas AEYC, she works with various organizations on issues affecting young children, families and professionals.
