Architecture Student
Clemson University
“I’m currently in the architecture program at Clemson University, and several of the skills I learned under the tutelage of Brian Fleming have given me a great advantage here.
“Basic and advanced computer aided drafting taught me the technical and graphic communication skills needed to succeed in my field. I feel like I’m leagues ahead of my competition in my traditional and computer aided drafting projects. Learning to communicate complex technical ideas clearly and concisely has been single-handedly the most useful skill I learned in his classes.
“Greater understanding of everything beyond the drafting table has taught me how to bridge the gap between design and production, and how to successfully communicate across occupations. Also, thanks to the difficult and challenging program at Richland, I’ve developed the skills required to better manage my time and efforts on all projects and endeavors. Balancing extracurricular activities, a full class load and part-time employment are far more manageable.
“Richland’s CAD program and Brian Fleming taught me that hard work is a welcome challenge and a great way to better myself and my abilities. I confidently believe that my time spent with him and Richland College have given me a stable foundation from which to build a successful career and future.”
Dan Warren attended CAD classes in Richland College’s Engineering Technology Division before transferring to Clemson University in Clemson, S.C., to study architecture. He recently spent a semester abroad studying in Turkey.
