“For 12 years, I worked as a domestic employee. I did not have any knowledge of computers, and I wanted to explore that field. I decided to study the basics of computers in order to find employment in an office environment.

“At Brookhaven College, I met one of the best instructors in the Office Technology program - Pat Byars is the greatest! She was always willing to help anyone accomplish their goals. Personally, she helped me a lot by explaining the choices available and the best classes for me. I will always remember her; she made my experience at the college easy and gave me the confidence that I needed.

“Thanks to what I learned at Brookhaven about how to effectively use the computer, I was able to get a good-paying job in a good company. I started as a production support assistant, and in one year I was promoted to customer account representative I. Two years later, I was promoted to representative II. Over five years, I have earned five awards for outstanding achievement in my department.

As a customer account representative II with Countrywide Home Loans, she calls appraisers to assign them orders to complete an appraisal for homeowners interested in deleting private mortgage insurance on their loan and also takes new orders via phone from homeowners.
