Program Coordinator and Faculty

Dr. Suryakant Desai is Cedar Valley’s Accounting program coordinator and teaches Personal Finance and Introduction to Business courses. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Bombay, India; master’s degrees in professional accounting and in business administration from the University of Texas-Arlington; and a doctorate in secondary and higher education from Texas A&M University-Commerce. He is a certified public accountant (CPA) and a certified financial planner (CFP).

Full-time DCCCD faculty since 1984, he taught as adjunct faculty in the district for two years and for six years prior to that in private colleges. Over the years he has taught most of the courses in the college’s accounting program.

Dr. Desai received Cedar Valley College’s Excellence in Teaching Award in 1988, and is a member of the American Accounting Association and the Texas Society of CPAs. He has taught courses in the traditional classroom and in open entry/open exit and online modes.
