Clarice McCoy has worked in both private and public accounting, including bookkeeping, payroll accounting, oil and gas accounting, sales taxes, franchise taxes and income tax for proprietorships, partnerships, corporations and trusts. She has also served as a consultant to businesses, setting up computerized accounting systems.

She began her college teaching career at Texas A&M University-Commerce and has also taught accounting at Eastfield, Mountain View and Cedar Valley colleges. She has taught accounting at Brookhaven College since 1985, was selected as Brookhaven’s Minnie Piper Stevens Professor (outstanding faculty member) in 2004 and was chosen as DCCCD’s overall Piper Professor in 2005.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Southeastern Oklahoma and a master’s degree in business administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce. She has also completed graduate courses in accounting at the University of Texas at Dallas and the University of North Texas. She is a certified public accountant (CPA) and certified financial planner (CFP).

Publications include three editions of “Telecourse/Student Course Guide for Principles of Accounting I and II” and “Financial and Managerial Accounting,” McGraw-Hill Publishing Company. She also participated in the development of the DCCCD “Accounting in Action” telecourses, including the development of interactive CD activities.
