General Accounting Manager
D/FW International Airport
“Studying accounting was a logical choice for me because I had already taken some accounting and bookkeeping courses in high school in Korea where I grew up. I also worked in the accounting field there before coming to the United States.
“Brookhaven College’s international student office provided very important guidance for the direction in which to focus my college studies. My primary focus in the beginning was to improve my English language skills so that I could then concentrate my efforts on obtaining my bachelor’s degree in accounting.
“I remember when I was able to begin credit courses. I was so excited because higher education was one of my personal dreams. Brookhaven and its professors’ encouragement provided a great experience and direction in helping me realize this dream.
“I went to school in the evening while continuing my professional career. I took the first- and second-year accounting courses at Brookhaven and then transferred to the University of Texas at Dallas, where I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. My experience at Brookhaven also gave me the encouragement to go further and get my CPA license. I then earned my Master of Business Administration in corporate finance at the University of Dallas.
“It wasn’t just accounting that I learned at Brookhaven, but how to learn and apply that knowledge to real life experiences.”
