Financial Aid Eligibility

Eligibility for Federal Student Financial Aid

To be eligible for federal financial aid, you must:

Be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen
Have a demonstrated financial need
Have a high school diploma or GED, or meet special ability-to-benefit requirements
Be registered with the Selective Service (if required)
Be enrolled in an eligible program

Note: DCCCD students who are applying for financial aid must select an eligible program of study before the first disbursement (distribution) of financial aid. To select an eligible degree or certificate program, please log in to eConnect and visit My Program of Study.
Be in compliance with the satisfactory academic progress (SAP) policy for federal aid
Not owe a refund on a federal grant or be in default on a federal educational loan

Eligibility for State Student Financial Aid

To be eligible for Texas state financial aid, you must:

Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if you are a U.S. citizen
or
Be certified as HB1403 eligible, complete a paper FAFSA (PDF - 911KB) and submit it to your Financial Aid Office with supporting income verification documents

and
Be in compliance with the Texas Satisfactory Academic Progress policy
Be registered with Selective Service (if required)
