Do you enjoy working with people? Are you a self-starter? Do you like setting your own hours? Find your own path to financial independence by getting a jump-start in the challenging but rewarding real estate profession!

Even if you’re interested in a more traditional work schedule, real estate can be a viable career option, as educational and governmental bodies need professionals to work with tax assessments and consumers. Lending institutions and commercial entities also hire people to negotiate and process residential and commercial property-related transactions.

Get started today in Real Estate at DCCCD!

You can get the tools and skills you’ll need from instructors who bring years of real-world experience to the classroom. Weekday, evening and weekend fast-track courses are available. Earn an associate degree or one of several certificates that prepare you for licensure as a Texas real estate agent or broker.

Real Estate Degree and Certificate Options

DCCCD’s Real Estate program is open to new students at Cedar Valley College and North Lake College. Both offer:

  • The Real Estate Associate in Applied Sciences Degree, designed to develop fundamental skills, attitudes and experience to attain decision-making positions in the real estate profession. The associate degree may be applied toward licensing requirements as determined by the Texas Real Estate Commission.
  • The Real Estate Certificate is a 15- to 16-credit-hour program designed to provide basic skills for a real estate salesperson. Three of the five courses are required by the Texas Real Estate Commission for licensure.

Richland College

Richland College’s Real Estate Program has been deactivated, meaning that it will continue to “teach out” students enrolled in the program but is not open to new students.

New students enrolling in real estate courses after June 1, 2009 will be able to complete various courses; however, they will not be able to file for a certificate or degree in real estate.

Courses required for a real estate license by the Texas Real Estate License Act will be offered until the end of the Spring 2011 semester. Students wishing to graduate from Richland College must complete 25 percent of all coursework through the college.

If you have questions about Richland’s Real Estate program, contact
