Digital Forensics Program Nationally Recognized
In 2011, Richland College’s Digital Forensics program was recognized as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information System Security Education by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security. It is the first two-year college in Texas to receive this recognition.
Richland’s program is in the “CAE2Y” category, the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance 2-Year Education. The designation is in effect through 2016 and recognizes the program’s “ability to meet the increasing demands of the program criteria (that) will serve the nation well in contributing to the protection of the National Information Infrastructure.”
Only six community colleges became CAE2Y institutions in 2010, the first year of the program. Six more institutions nationwide achieved this prestigious status in 2011.
