Auto Body Student and Student AssistantAutomotive Tool RoomEastfield College
“Auto body work and painting have always interested me. I’d always liked both cars and art, and this program mixes them together. I’d like to be a custom painter and work in a shop, but you’ve got to start somewhere. I wouldn’t mind painting small things like guitars at first to get the experience.
“I started Eastfield’s program right after I graduated from high school at Skyline. My brother used to paint cars as a hobby, and I was really interested in the art of it. Even if you don’t end up painting cars as a career, you can custom paint as a hobby. It’s just fun.
“I make up the art, put it in a drawing and transfer it to paint. Like any kind of art, you start with an idea and then figure out how to carry it out.”
Cynthia Godinez began the Auto Body program at Eastfield College in the Fall of 2009 and is working towards an associate degree.
