Phillip Ortiz has held a full-time faculty position teaching Social Work courses at Eastfield College since January of 2000. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Dallas and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Texas at Arlington. Mr. Ortiz is preparing to defend his dissertation for his Ed.D. degree in higher education from Texas A&M University-Commerce. He has been a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in Texas since 2000 and has extensive clinical experience in the areas of mental health, child welfare, family counseling, gang intervention, substance abuse, domestic violence and child custody disputes.

He is recognized by the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners as a Continuing Education Provider and frequently conducts training seminars on cultural diversity, ethics, conflict resolution, clinical assessment and motivational interviewing in counseling-resistant clients. He periodically consults for Dallas Family and Protective Services, Dallas County Family Courts and local juvenile probation departments.
