What does a medical practice manager do?

  • Plans, directs, coordinates and supervises the delivery of health care
  • Manages personnel, conducts marketing relations, oversees accounting services, ensures compliance with regulatory agencies, directs billing and coding, develops policies and procedures, and performs administrative duties

What is the career outlook?

  • Most jobs available in physician offices, urgent care centers, surgery centers, nursing homes and related health-care organizations
  • Full-time hours with varying schedules that may include nights, weekends and holidays
  • In Texas:  projected growth of 25 percent through 2018*

Certification is not required to work as a Medical Practice Manager in the State of Texas.  After completion of the program, students will be eligible to take the Certified Medical Manager Apprentice examination
