America’s Career Infonet rates diagnostic medical sonographer as the top fastest-growing job in the state of Texas for those with an associate degree, expected to grow a staggering 58 percent through 2022.

Every year, nearly 100 percent of El Centro’s sonography graduates are employed by affiliates in the metroplex. El Centro College is affiliated with more than 30 area hospitals in four surrounding counties, providing a broad range of clinical experience to augment instruction.

According to America's Career Infonet, average salaries in Texas are:

Job Median Hourly Rate Median Annual Salary Projected Growth Through 2022
Diagnostic medical sonographer $31.53 $65,600 +58%

Sonographers should experience excellent job opportunities as ultrasound becomes an increasingly attractive alternative to radiologic procedures (which use X-rays or radioactive material). With the strong shift towards outpatient care, more procedures are performed outside of hospitals and clinics, creating even more job openings for qualified sonographers.
