Brookhaven College’s Head Start Center
Brookhaven College’s Head Start Center, a partnership between Greater Head Start of Dallas and the college — the first of its kind in the country — features a $3 million model preschool facility on the Brookhaven campus. The center serves nearly 200 preschool-age children each year and offer comprehensive services in nutrition, health, social skills, physical coordination, self-esteem and pre-reading and pre-math skills. The college provides extensive support services for parents including mentoring, career development and counseling, financial aid counseling, tutoring for college courses and college success strategies.
This community-college-based center also serves as a teaching facility for Brookhaven’s Child Development and Teacher Preparation programs. Families must meet eligibility guidelines for services. Eastfield College’s Children’s Laboratory School
Eastfield College’s Children’s Laboratory School is housed in the state-of-the art Center for Child and Family Studies along with its Child Development and Teacher Preparation programs. The Children’s Laboratory School is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Eastfield’s Laboratory School serves as a lab setting for the college’s Child Development and Teacher Preparation programs, other college students across the metroplex and even some dual-credit enrolled high school students.
