Marketing involves researching, designing, promoting, retailing, wholesaling, transporting and warehousing. The colleges of DCCCD offer both business and fashion marketing programs.
Are you a problem-solver who wants a stimulating work environment? Do you want a job that’s challenging, fast-paced and rewarding — both mentally and financially? Are you interested in finding out why people buy the things they do? Business Marketing focuses on the process through which goods and services move from concept to customer, from product development through promotional strategy.
Are you interested in fashion but also business? Fashion Marketing identifies consumer needs, develops fashion-related products and concentrates on pricing, distributing and promoting them effectively to consumers. It’s the business side of fashion — combining general business principles with ambition, creativity and enthusiasm — emphasizing wholesale, retail and promotional levels of the fashion business.
Workforce Solutions of Greater Dallas’s targeted occupations lists eight separate business management and administration positions as high-growth areas this year. Projections include 26,000 general manager positions available locally at an average of $60.80 per hour and 10,020 positions as business operations specialists at $37.87 per hour.
America’s Career Infonet projects high increase (more than 10 percent) in a number of marketing jobs in various fields. More than 20 percent job growth is projected through 2022 in positions including marketing managers, public relations specialists, purchasing managers and market research analysts – the top growth area.
Market research analyst and marketing manager are in the top two spots of U.S. News and World Report’s Money Careers’ top 25 “best business jobs.”
Job growth is also projected to be high in fashion marketing: 24 percent for sales representatives; 20 percent for wholesale and retail buyers; and 12 percent for retail sales supervisors.
