Deputy Sheriff, Limestone County

“I took Human Development classes at Cedar Valley while I was getting my associate degree and also going to Cedar Valley College’s Law Enforcement Academy there. I have to say that I just had a totally different perspective on a lot of things after that class.

“It wasn’t that I exactly had a negative attitude at first, but sometimes things seemed to get stuck for me. After taking a Human Development course, I was motivated to not only do better and to pursue what I wanted to do, but to be able to figure out what it is that I wanted to accomplish.

“I always wanted to go into law enforcement, but I didn’t think I would be able to because I had a criminal record when I was younger. I didn’t want to deal with the rejection for a long time. But once I took the chance and was accepted to the Academy and was also getting my associate degree, everything just sort of fell into place. I was able to use what I’d learned in my HD class to stay motivated.”

Eddie Rodriguez took Human Development courses at Cedar Valley, where he earned an associate degree.
