Basic Peace Officer Training

Police work isn’t right for everyone. If you have the dedication and motivation to succeed, however, Cedar Valley College and Eastfield College have police academies that offer solid preparation for the challenges of being a peace officer. Both are licensed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) to provide Basic Peace Officer training, and both exceed state training requirements.

The two academies offer rigorous training with a heavy emphasis on discipline, and both offer full-time and part-time classes. They are also open-enrollment academies, among only a few in the North Texas area. If you meet both state and college requirements, you may be accepted to the academy without agency endorsement.

If you successfully complete academy training and pass the TCOLE exam, you will be certified to be a peace officer in any municipal, county or state law enforcement agency in the state of Texas.

Check with Cedar Valley College or Eastfield College to see which academy will best fit your training needs and location within the DFW metroplex.
