Investment Analyst (Position No. 110806015)
Salary: $3,231 / Month
This is a Full-time position in the Business Affairs Department. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for operating the investment process, which includes but is not limited to, the solicitation of bids, selection and purchase of securities; maintains related documentation of transactions.

  • Designs and develops investment strategies to collect market data relating to current investment trends; analyzes current market developments and projects impact on existing investments as well as projected investments.

  • Responsible for submitting and processing all related information/reports within considerable time constraints to comply with rules and regulations to avoid monetary penalties upon the district.

  • Prepares monthly journal entries to record the allocation of interest earned, purchase, sale or maturity of investment securities.

  • Prepares periodic status reports to the various participants in the DCCCD investment pool.

  • Performs cash management functions such as economic analysis and technical fixed-income market analysis, cash flow planning; monitors all related bank accounts, including but not limited to, wire transactions and securities transfers and negotiates for new bank service fees.

  • Prepares quarterly DCCCD investment report for the Board Audit Committee and publishes investment report on the District’s web page.

  • Develops computer models for investment management, daily cash management, debt service payment and other related analysis; prepares database; maintains records of current activities; evaluates data and generates reports periodically as appropriate.

  • Prepares monthly tax collection analysis report.

  • Prepares year-end audit work papers for investment and debt service functions.

  • Establishes and maintains daily contact with investment brokers and dealer relations for a variety of investment sources.

  • May act as resource person to external organizations when questions arise relating to the District’s investment and debt portfolio.

  • Performs related duties as required.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance with four years of experience in investments and twelve semester hours of college accounting.

  • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet applications; advanced knowledge of computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others.

  • Familiarity with the workings of the economy, tax laws, and money markets. 

  • Proven analytical skills and highly developed human relations skills to interact with Dallas County Community College District staff members and the financial community from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. 

  • A criminal background check will be conducted.
