College Nurse II

Salary: $3625 / Month
This is a Full-time position in the RLC Health Center. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- An advanced level position responsible for performing professional nursing work in the college health center.
- The incumbent works within the framework of Texas statutes regulating nursing practice, established District policies and overall health program procedures.
- Oversees the day to day activities of the college health center utilizing considerable latitude for action and independent judgment. Provides routine nursing treatment and emergency care for students and staff. Some locations may be responsible for evaluation and emergency care of children in site child-care centers, members of athletic teams, and/or patrons of pool areas.
- Coordinates a variety of health programs, such as but not limited to, wellness testing, immunizations, blood drives, etc.
- Administers health screening tests; counsels and advises individuals regarding test results; maintains a high degree of confidentiality.
- Acts as liaison with community organization to provide awareness and extended and/or additional services to the college location student and staff body.
- Presents a variety of health and safety materials using appropriate presentation vehicle.
- Responsible for ordering, restocking inventories and safely maintaining all health center supplies; administers non‑prescription medication.
- Keeps records of treatments; prepares periodic statistical reports as required; secures all records and ensures proper maintenance and disposal as required by HIPAA rules and requirements.
- Works in conjunction with the location human resources office in coordination of worker’s compensation paperwork. Maintains departmental budget allocations.
- May oversee and/or direct the daily activities of other staff members within the department.
- May work on special councils and/or committees as they relate to the services provided by the college health centers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program plus possession of a license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas; and four years of nursing experience.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Experience in school health and emergency care is a plus. Advanced knowledge of computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. Official transcripts and evidence of licensing as RN and current CPR will be required.
- A criminal background check will be conducted.
