A full-time teaching position (Visiting Scholar) (Pending Funding Availability) in the Communications/Teacher Education Department. Present/teach objectives described in the curriculum for a Developmental Writing course. Duties include but are not limited to:

Efficiently handle paperwork related to student grades and college responsibilities. Must be willing to work with adjunct faculty. Must possess excellent oral and written communications skills. Must be a team player and work cooperative with faculty, students, colleagues and local teachers. Must be able to present/teach objectives described in the curriculum of three levels of Developmental Writing courses. Must be able to efficiently maintain student records and meet deadlines associated with student performance. Must be willing to provide new ideas for innovative modes of instruction for students enrolled in Developmental Writing courses. Must be a self starter and willing to proxy and monitor exit exams. Must be willing to serve on college and District committees and utilize computer technology to support learning opportunities for students. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Master’s degree or higher and 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline. Excellent computer (software and internet) skills and oral/written communication skills to interact with students. Nine months salary ranging from $40,000-$46,000 based on education and experience. Extra service and summer compensation possibilities in addition to 9-month contract. (Comprehensive benefits package). Demonstrated skills in successfully working with diverse populations through experiences such as formal training and past work experiences. Completed DCCCD application, resume and copies of transcripts are required. Official transcripts will be required prior to interview. A criminal background check will be conducted.
