Developmental Writing Faculty (Visiting Scholar)

Salary: $40,000 - $46,000 based on education and experience. / 9 Months
A full-time teaching position (Visiting Scholar) (Pending Funding Availability) in the Communications/Teacher Education Department. Present/teach objectives described in the curriculum for a Developmental Writing course. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Efficiently handle paperwork related to student grades and college responsibilities.
- Must be willing to work with adjunct faculty.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Must be a team player and work cooperative with faculty, students, colleagues and local teachers.
- Must be able to present/teach objectives described in the curriculum of three levels of Developmental Writing courses.
- Must be able to efficiently maintain student records and meet deadlines associated with student performance.
- Must be willing to provide new ideas for innovative modes of instruction for students enrolled in Developmental Writing courses.
- Must be a self starter and willing to proxy and monitor exit exams.
- Must be willing to serve on college and District committees and utilize computer technology to support learning opportunities for students.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
- Master’s degree or higher and 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
- Excellent computer (software and internet) skills and oral/written communication skills to interact with students.
- Nine months salary ranging from $40,000-$46,000 based on education and experience.
- Extra service and summer compensation possibilities in addition to 9-month contract. (Comprehensive benefits package).
- Demonstrated skills in successfully working with diverse populations through experiences such as formal training and past work experiences.
- Completed DCCCD application, resume and copies of transcripts are required.
- Official transcripts will be required prior to interview.
- A criminal background check will be conducted.
