North Lake Art Student Wins Calendar Design for Dallas Farmers Market

For immediate release - Sept. 8, 2006

(IRVING, Texas) — For the seventh year in a row, a student from North Lake College’s Computer Graphics program has won the Dallas Farmer’s Market Calendar competition. The competition is open to all art students in the Dallas County Community College District. The 2007 calendar will be distributed at the State Fair of Texas as well as the Farmer’s Market.

The North Lake student winner is Parul Sharma, who will receive a $500 cash award in addition to having her artwork showcased as the calendar’s cover. In addition, the North Lake Art Club (WEOTA) will receive $1,000 to help fund art scholarships and awards for other North Lake art students.

Byron Black, Art/Computer Graphics instructor at North Lake, said: “Parul is an excellent student and is committed to a career in art. She is a great representative for all our students in our computer graphics program.”
