Eastfield Students Receive Guitar Scholarship

April 2007

(Mesquite, Texas) - The recipients of the Lee Caropresi Guitar Scholarship for this year are Eastfield College students Toby Binion of Garland and William Grant of Dallas. The scholarship fund has awarded eight scholarships since 2004, Eastfield College Guitar students are the recipients of the 2006-07 Lee Caropresi Guitar Scholarship.

Lee Caropresi studied under Dr. Enric Madriguera, long time professor of Guitar Studies at Eastfield College, in 1979 and was part of a group that studied abroad in Spain. Lee served as the Director of Music at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Dallas and played in a band called “The Touch.”

“As a former Eastfield student and as a guitarist, songwriter and vocalist, Lee valued education and would be pleased to know these students were assisted in their educational endeavors,” said Patsy Caropresi, widow of Lee. “We want to encourage the recipients to continue their educations and develop their musical talents. My family and I were delighted to award scholarships to these students in my husband's memory.”
