A free, one-day event for Dallas-area high school juniors and seniors, as well as their parents, will help students obtain the key to education during Las Llaves del Exito on Saturday, Feb. 11, at Richland College in Dallas.

The 2006 DCCCD African-American Read-In will celebrate the joys of reading and the legacy of Ossie Davis through presentations and a locally written production titled “A Prince Came Out of Egypt: A Tribute to Ossie Davis.” The event will be held Saturday, Feb. 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Majestic Theatre in Dallas.

During a special meeting of the Dallas County Community College District’s board of trustees, members unanimously appointed Dr. Wright Lassiter, interim chancellor and former president of El Centro College, as chancellor, effective immediately and continuing through August 2008. 

Retired DCCCD trustee Pattie Powell was recognized by other trustees for her dedication and service when they approved her appointment as the first “trustee emeritus” for DCCCD.
