Free 'Las Llaves' Event Targets High School Juniors, Seniors, Parents - Feb. 11, 2006
A free, one-day event for Dallas-area high school juniors and seniors, as well as their parents, will help students obtain the key to education during Las Llaves del Exito on Saturday, Feb. 11, at Richland College in Dallas.
Avery BrooksDCCCD Read-In Celebrates Literacy, African-American Writers and the Life of Ossie Davis - Feb. 4, 2006
The 2006 DCCCD African-American Read-In will celebrate the joys of reading and the legacy of Ossie Davis through presentations and a locally written production titled “A Prince Came Out of Egypt: A Tribute to Ossie Davis.” The event will be held Saturday, Feb. 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Majestic Theatre in Dallas.
DCCCD Unveils New Education Campus in Pleasant Grove, Plans Location in West Dallas - Feb. 27, 2006
Members of the board of trustees for the Dallas County Community College District, along with elected officials and community representatives, attended a special ceremony on Thursday, Feb. 16, to mark the future location of a new education campus for Pleasant Grove.

Dallas County voters recently elected JL Sonny Williams as district 1 representative on the Dallas County Community College District’s board of trustees. Williams and current board member Charletta Compton, who ran unopposed for DCCCD’s district 7 seat, will be sworn in during the regular monthly meeting of the board on June 6.

Thanks to a $500,000 gift from the John and Lyn Muse family of Dallas, up to 100 survivors of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita will receive scholarship assistance as they pursue academic or workforce education classes.

DCCCD Announces Change in Administration for Garland Center - Aug. 31, 2006
Dr. Wright Lassiter, chancellor of the Dallas County Community College District, announced to Garland-area leaders today that responsibility for the development and oversight of the district’s new community education campus in Garland will be assumed by Richland College; that move will enable Eastfield College officials to focus on another community education center planned in Pleasant Grove.

DCCCD and Sam Houston State University in Huntsville will sign a transfer agreement - including both Web-based learning and on-campus classes, joint admission to both institutions and a reverse transfer agreement - that will give students more options as they pursue their education.

The Dallas County Community College District will implement a $3-per-semester-credit-hour tuition increase in spring 2007; students will pay $39 per semester credit hour – an amount that continues to place the system among colleges that offer the lowest tuition rates in the state, thanks to the support of taxpayers in DCCCD’s service area.
