A B.A. degree program that will maximize the hours you can take at Dallas County Community College District? A degree you can earn at your pace, at your place?
Governors State, a senior-level university offers you access to a bachelor's degree while you study at your DCCCD campus. In fact, GSU may accept up to 80 credit hours from a DCCCD college, including hours earned through the DCCCD distance learning program.
Anytime after completing 30 semester hours towards your associate's degree at DCCCD, you can apply for admission to the BOG B.A. degree program at GSU, and be a student at both institutions. You need a minimum GPA of 2.0.
Your academic advisor at GSU will help you develop a study plan that will enable you ro complete the 120 hours for your BOG B.A. degree by taking courses at DCCCD, GSU, and other regionally accredited institutions. All of this can be accomplished right where you are.
What Kind of B.A. Degree Will I Earn?
The Board of Governors degree is not organized by traditional academic disciplines. You have the freedom to design your own degree program and take courses that fit your career goals and personal interests. BOG B.A. students have a strong record of success in getting into graduate schools. The degree will also qualify you for most positions in the workplace that require a bachelor's degree. More than 12,000 students have earned this degree since it began in 1973.
Dual Admission and Enrollment

Admission to the BOG B.A. degree program can occur anytime after you have earned 30 semester credit hours.

You may transfer up to 80 semester hours of lower-division credit from your local community college towards your BOG B.A. degree.

You must earn a minimum of 40 semester-hours of upper-division credit.

You must take a minimum of 15 credit-hours from GSU (by registering for GSU's distance learning courses).

You may "portfolio" lower- and upper-division credits towards the BOG B.A. degree.

You may take proficiency/standardized competency examinations.

You may take courses from other regionally accredited colleges and universities. |
Other Options for Earning Academic Credit Toward the BOG B.A. Degree
- Write a portfolio requesting academic credit for learning you have gained from your life experience
- College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
- DANTES military credit
- ACT/PEP and other proficiency/standardized competency examinations
- ACE-approved training
- Certificate R.N.'s bring a minimum of 45 hours of credit into the program
