Choral Society to Present “Works by Beethoven and Ginastera” in Benefit Concert
Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004
8 p.m.
Brookhaven College, Student Services Center, Building S

The Brookhaven College Choral Society will present “Works by Beethoven and Ginastera” at a concert Nov. 13 at 8 p.m., in the lobby of the Student Services Center. The program benefits the Brookhaven College School of the Arts Music Club awards.

The choir, consisting of more than 50 auditioned members, performs frequently in the community including collaborations with the Texas Chamber Orchestra, the Richardson Symphony Orchestra and the Dallas Chamber Orchestra. Dr. Robert Austin, member of the Brookhaven College faculty since 1979, directs the Choral Society. Dr. Austin has his bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in music from the University of North Texas and pursued a professional singing career, including two years in leading roles with the National Opera Company.

Guest pianist Dr. Gustavo Tolosa accompanies the choir. Currently a visiting administrator in the music department at Brookhaven College, Tolosa served as the director of the piano division for seven years at Abilene Christian University from 1996 to 2004. He holds a master’s degree in music from the University of Redlands, Calif., and a doctorate in piano performance and literature from the Eastman School of Music.

Tickets for the concert are $15 for adults and $10 for students. For ticket information or to reserve tickets, call the School of the Arts Box Office at 972-860-4118. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Brookhaven College School of the Arts Music Club. The Brookhaven College School of the Arts is funded in part by a grant from the city of Carrollton.
