DCCCD board members are elected by the constituents in their districts to serve six-year terms. The elections for each district are staggered and conducted during even-numbered years.
Incumbent trustees Boyle and Flores were the only candidates to file an Application for Place on the Ballot for the 2008 election. Since they were unopposed, the DCCCD Board of Trustees may adopt a resolution that cancels the election for both districts and declares the incumbents elected to office. Under the law and after they fulfill their current term, they may be sworn in after the May 10, 2008, election to serve the six-year term that they were (declared) elected to.
