When to Expect Your Federal Loan Money

We’ve noticed that a lot of students are concerned and have questions about the application process for federal loans, so we wanted to clear up some things. Grant aid award notices are available to students who have completed their files and are eligible. Federal loans are not automatically awarded. You must notify the Financial Aid Office if you are interested in seeking a federal loan. Please review our website for more information about loans and find out how to apply for a loan.

If you submitted your FAFSA and any requested documents, and completed the steps required to apply for a loan, we’ll email you about your loan eligibility within 30 days. Disbursement of loan money began on Sept. 29 for the Fall 2011 semester and will begin on or after Feb. 4 for the Spring 2012 semester.

Federal loan requests will be accepted for the Fall term until Oct. 31, 2011, and for the Spring 2012 term until March 30, 2012. Again, you will be notified via email whether you qualify or not once your request has been reviewed.

We understand that financial aid is a confusing and stressful subject, and we’re doing all we can to make the process easier. Thank you so much for choosing DCCCD.
