DCCCD/University of Louisiana-Monroe Transfer Agreement

The Dallas County Community College District office of transfer services/articulation and university relations recently signed an articulation agreement with the University of Louisiana-Monroe to form an educational partnership that provides opportunities for DCCCD students who may wish to attend both institutions. Both DCCCD and UL-Monroe have created an articulation (or transfer) “crosswalk” for students by developing common degree plans by major that clearly delineate courses that students will take at DCCCD and those that they must complete at ULM. The agreement includes a dual admissions program for 2+2 degree programs (a two-year associate degree earned at the community college and two years of study at ULM, resulting in a bachelor’s degree).

Students admitted to DCCCD who choose an approved common degree plan and who meet all ULM admissions requirements will be admitted to ULM when they have completed an Associate in Arts 2+2 degree plan with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. All courses and grades will transfer for GPA purposes; only courses with grades of C (2.0) or better will be accepted by ULM. DCCCD students who wish to transfer to ULM will be eligible for an out-of-state tuition waiver if they have completed 12 semester hours of college credit, have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 on all college-level work, have no remedial requirements and are eligible to return to their previous institution.

DCCCD students also are eligible for the ULM Community College Achievement Award or ULM Phi Theta Kappa Award if they meet the eligibility requirements. The Phi Theta Kappa Award may not be combined with any other ULM institutional award.

DCCCD/University of Texas-Permian Basin Transfer Agreement

The Dallas County Community College District, through the DCCCD office of transfer services/articulation and university relations, has established a transfer agreement with the University of Texas-Permian Basin to enable students from DCCCD to carry with them to UTPB credit hours they already have earned for as much relevant study as possible. The agreement provides a structure that supports transfer on all levels; UTPB also understands that the agreement is made with the district as a whole and not with individual colleges within DCCCD. As a result, courses taken at any DCCCD college are considered equally transferable.

All associate degrees (Associate in Arts, Associate of Arts in Teaching, Associate in Applied Sciences, Associate in Sciences) at DCCCD transfer to UTPB as a block. DCCCD graduates do not have to repeat lower-division requirements at UTPB, and DCCCD graduates who earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 entering under the terms of the agreement are guaranteed admission to the university. Those students must go through UTPB’s transfer process and must meet all applicable requirements and deadlines pertaining to application for admission, orientation and registration, and payment of tuition and fees. They also must abide by the university’s policies and procedures.

DCCCD’s core curriculum will transfer as a block to UTPB and will satisfy the university’s lower-division general education requirements. The core can be transferred and accepted as a component of an associate degree or as a stand-alone general education block that is not affiliated with the two-year degree.
