ECC-Presidential-Search.jpg

Dear El Centro colleagues,

I know you will be excited to learn that we have arrived at the next step in our search for the president of El Centro College: announcing the finalists.

After expanding the search and interviewing the initial list of candidates, I want to share with you the finalists' names and where they currently work.

  • José Adames - vice president and dean of academic affairs at Dutchess Community College
  • Feliccia Moore-Davis - vice president for instruction at Lone Star College-Cyfair
  • Greg Morris - executive dean of arts and sciences at El Centro College

As you can see, the search committee members have been thorough and thoughtful in their efforts to identify the best candidates possible who can lead El Centro College forward in the years to come.

The next step is important, too, because you will be involved. The finalists will visit your college to talk to a variety of groups on campus about their experience and their vision for El Centro College. Those visits will include an open forum for everyone to attend, and I invite you to participate, listen and then provide feedback to me about each candidate.

Here is the schedule of visits:

Candidate Date of Visit Daily Schedule for Each Candidate
José Adames Thursday, June 26
9 a.m. to noon: Tour of college and related campus facilities
12:15 to 1 p.m.:  Lunch with students (by invitation only)*
1:30 to 2:30 p.m.: Open Forum with faculty, staff and administrators*
3 to 4 p.m.: Discussion with community/business leaders (by invitation only)*
Feliccia Moore-Davis Tuesday, July 15
Greg Morris Thursday, July 10

*An electronic survey link will be provided to encourage individuals attending these events to provide their feedback — available for 48 hours after the event.

Choosing the candidate with the best fit and experience is my goal. Once the finalists have completed their visits and I receive feedback from the college community, I will select the next president for El Centro College and then will take my recommendation to the DCCCD Board of Trustees for approval.

Thank you again for your patience and your support throughout this important process. The search committee has worked many hours to enable us to arrive at this important step. I encourage you to attend the open forum and share your thoughts.

I am excited to see that the end of the search is in sight and that we soon will announce the next president of El Centro College.

I will keep you informed throughout the remainder of this important process.

Best wishes,

Joe D. May
